We need to have a quick heart-to-heart talk.
As most of you know, my entire career has been an upward struggle. Against record companies, bands, MTV, radio stations, politics, and MOSTLY POVERTY. For many years, I've come up with dada-based projects to try to keep the ZOOGZ RIFT THING going--to try to keep the music alive.
But in order to keep the music alive, the wrestling alive, the DADA machine alive, *I* need to stay alive. Me--the real person--ZOOGZ himself. Well, eight months ago, my wife and I parted ways. Since that time, I've lived in dire poverty, just keeping my head above water. It's been stressful, lonely and depressing, but I managed, with the help/financial donations of a number of my friends. Recently, I was able to score this essentially free computer, and even my net access is paid for by a friend. I've been trying to qualify for SSI, but I've been repeatedly turned down. I'm still trying, but AS OF THIS MOMENT, I have NO money coming in, whatsoever. I have no way to pay my rent in three weeks, on July 1. I can't pay my phone bills, or put gas in my car. I have NO INCOME, and can't work because of my diabetes/neuropathy/spinal arthritis. I've just recently started my own business, in a strong attempt to start bringing money in to ward off the upcoming July 1 doomsday, but it's all been very slow in coming, and my business is yet to make ANY money--this shit takes time. IN A LAST DITCH ATTEMPT to save myself from becoming homeless in three weeks, having to put all my possessions in storage, losing access to my computer and the net indefinitely again, I CAME UP WITH THIS LATEST ZR T-SHIRT OFFER.
Plain and simple--this is a great t-shirt. It looks cool, and it's being sold at a good price. Well, here's the point--I'm not getting many sales!!! I'm starting to sweat it a little bit. THEREFORE: Those of you who aren't interested, I ask you to go back to the web site and READ IT AGAIN and reconsider. You'll like the shirt, and it's for a good cause. Those of you who ARE interested, I need you to ORDER YOUR SHIRTS NOW. Shirts, not shirt. Order 3 of them--go for the discount! Give them to your relatives, or friends, or keep them as emergency back-up for yourself, but BUY AT LEAST THREE. If you DO plan to order, PLEASE DO IT NOW--don't wait until the last minute--your procrastination is fucking me up--I need to start getting some money coming in so I can plan for July 1, ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. I'm trying to get a genuine piece of collector's memorabilia into YOUR hands, but I need you to help ME a little bit, and start placing your orders NOW.
Otherwise, June 30 may be the last time any of you hear from me for a long time to come, regretfully so. I'm very serious about all of this.
DADA LIVES. I've lived by that motto, and, if I have to, I'll die by it. If I sink, I take full responsibility for it, and I do it with no regrets. If I perservere, it's because loyal fans like you have kicked in, and made yourselves a part of the ZOOGZ RIFT LEGACY. You deserve some of the credit, and that's something to be proud of.
Thanks for your help and support. All I can give you back in return is the promise that I'LL NEVER SELL OUT--I'll remain your General, fighting until the last sword is drawn.

I just received a copy of this review from my friend Danny Mathys in Belgium. It was written by someone over at Crohinga Well magazine, wherever that is:
ZOOGZ RIFT (The Liquid Moamo) / "Five Billion Pinheads Can't Be Wrong" (AVT Records / AVT002) "I must admit I lost count. Number how much is this CD in Zoogz Rift's long and varied career? The man who presented the world with weird masterpieces like 'Idiots On The Miniature Golf Course,' 'Nonentity,' 'Murdering Hell's Happy Cretins' and 'Island Of Living Puke' is back again with his backing band The Shitheads. This Californian weird genius who combines the funny, the vulgar, the intelligent and the avant-garde in his unusual compositions strikes back with a 9-track CD (62'). His influences are uncountable: from James Brown and Miles Davis to John Cage and Zappa, from James Blood Ulmer to Ornette Coleman. The new edition of his Shitheads includes his 14-year-old son on sax, keyboards and additional vocals. His music is still as fragmented and uncompromising as 10 years ago: free jazz-styled instrumentals, dark, brooding avant-garde, nervous fragmented boogie or cynical, humorous rock like 'I Work On The Retard Farm' (so did I until 2 years ago). FIVE BILLION PINHEADS CAN'T BE WRONG is not THE masterpiece of Zoogz Rift's recording career but it's a strange and unsettling album from a musical twilight zone: too strange for non-psychedelic listeners, but people with an open mind should give it a chance. Contact: AVT Records, PO Bos 24036, Hilton Head Isl, South Carolina 29925, USA."

Not that most of you give a shit, but yes indeedie, I HAVE RETURNED TO THE NET, as I promised back in October when I lost my computer to the flood...
Thanks to a number of people who saw fit to periodically help me out>through my 8-month financial crisis, as well as those who helped Michelle Klein-Hass build me this glorious FRANKENSTEIN pc I'm now the proud owner of (one powerful sucker, I might add). My specific THANK YOU MUCHO list includes hat-tips to my mom, my son Aaron, my espoused wife Terry, my first wife Laura, Richie Hass, Michelle Klein-Hass, Barry Burkhan, John Trubee, Joe Newman, Dr. John Scialli, Tom Brown, Barry Duquette, Cathy Noggle (my long distance mistress--I'll get in there yet, darlin'! ;) (hmmmm...haven't done that semi-colon thing in a LONG time!), Gary Rush, Kevan Smith, Dode, Willie Lapin, Michael Dawson, Marty Atwell, John Butler-Kerr, Erica Mandell, Tracy (!), Mr. Outrageous, Brian Walther and the Impact Wrestling Federation here in southern California, Marshall, Nubs, Pastor Steve, George Radai, Pete Spomer, Jon Schattke ("Burt Reynolds is SCHATTKE" ha ha oh never mind), and of course, my ol' slack pal Mr. Lou Duchez. IT'S A GOOD THING THIS WASN'T AN ACCEPTANCE SPEECH FOR THE GODDAMNED ACADEMY AWARDS--I would have been yanked LONG ago.
In the past 8 months, I've: brooded, coped with irritating diabetes, neuropathy and spinal arthritis problems, started a new business, and RE-ENTERED THE WORLD OF PRO WRESTLING as myself, manager of the greatest wrestler on the entire west coast, MR. OUTRAGEOUS (I'm also doing color commentary for the IWF tv tapings every other Saturday). EL MOAMOSAN LIQUIDO is BACK.
However, I've learned my lesson, I'M BETTER NOW, etc. I promise to be on-topic from now on, and no more cross-posting. No more profanity, and no more of that inane wrestling bullshit.
Tee hee hee.......

Zoogz phoned me and asked me to update everyone on his status. The Liquid One has moved into a boarding house. He has one room and he is having his son Aaron stay with his ex-wife. All he has with him is his guitar and his amp (and of coarse, a TV).
He said that he can be contacted at (818) 591-9603, but not after 9pm Pacific Standard Time. If anyone wants any other messages sent that are important (and they better be important) you can send them to me temporarlily.

I spoke with Zoogz. The phone rings in his room and he has an answering machine if he's out. He's in a boarding home in a nice neighborhood (Woodland Hills) but doesn't know what he's gwine to do. He's got a lot of pain from his diabetes and arthritis, and his car is similarly degenerated. He has not many options. I told him public access TV would be great for him but he has too much pain to do much. He enjoyed the letters of support and the donations a few weeks ago but this has stopped. He wrote to many of us last week and knows to get mail he has to, wrong war.
Call him, write him, adopt him. His mailing address is a Mailbox Etc kind of place. Luckily he can call to find out if he has mail so he doesn't have to make the trip in vain (or in his car). He did not like my suggestion that we all send him lots of blank postcards just to give him exercise. He's got a CD player and I'm going to send him a cheapo tape player (walkman knock-off) so when you think of it, dub him some tapes to keep him in touch. I'm going to dub him the Stalling Projects I and II and the Raymond Scott "Powerhouse" CD which I just got (and highly recommend for the merrie melody depleted amongst you).
He's not practicing guitar anymore (after working a few hours a day at it the past few months) so his right hand needs exercise. Send for details.
John

Hi folks...I'm totally being serious here. I'm looking for an older Macintosh, like an LCIII, IIfx or SE/30 or whatever, that someone would be willing to part with to get Zoogz back online. A fast '030 based Mac like the Performa 460 would be ideal, or a low end Quadra or Centris, but anything at the level of an SE/30, IIcx or above would work.
I am willing to add a 14.4 modem to the pot, as well as all the software ZR needs to get going. To the folks who have written in saying that Zoogz's absence makes this and other newsgroups dull...you're right. If you really want to be supportive of Zoogz, put your money where your mouth is and help ZR back online.
email me at mhass703@2cowherd.net if anyone has a line on something. Take care,
Michelle Klein-Hass
