Hello World!

Hollywood calling. Here's some quick shots at what's goin' down in the backstreets of the Hollywood slums.

Taime Downe, formerly of Guns-era glampunks Faster Pussycat, fronts a new group, the Newlydeads, that has a Goth/Fetish sound & look. He also has another club (he and Rikki Rachtman started the world-famous Cathouse way back when), called the Pretty Ugly Club, every Wednesday night. This is way down on the Eastern Tip of Santa Monica Blvd. Frat boys need not apply. You'll know what I mean when you get there Fool. Swedish rockers the Backyard Babies do a jukebox rockin' version of the Pussycats' "Babylon".

Punk rock icon Frank Agnew from the Adolescents is playing again, writing songs with former Go-Go Jane Weidlin! Here's what he's been currently groovin' to:

        1) Mr. Mirainga -- Nueva (salsa-punk)
        2) 22 Jacks -- Going North
        3) Red Hot Chili Peppers -- Californication
        4) Smash Mouth -- Astro Lounge
        5) Lenny Kravitz -- 5

Good goin' Frankie!

If I may recommend a Hollywood Girl you might not know well, here she is: Tairrie B. She used to be a rapper back in the '80s; she was on Ruthless Records and had an album called A Ruthless Bitch!, produced by Easy-E, and was a dancer in Everlast solo video "I Got The Knack". Before that, she was the doorgirl at the Cathouse. While everyone was dressed Glam/Metal, there she was, the Ruthless one -- in her hip-hop clothes -- black Raiders jacket and gold chains, etc. Then she started a Rap/Metal band called Manhole, & that turned into Tura Satana, which produced 2 albums; and now she has My Ruin. Their debut on London Records (import) is called Speak and Destroy.

Before I go, I predict this: Hole's new bass player will be Nadja Peulen! The beautiful German bass player was recently the replacement bassist for L.A.'s Coal Chamber. She hasn't even tried out yet, but you heard it here first! By the way, Coal Chamber's singer, Dez Fafara took his first name from Dez Cadena of Black Flag, whom he used to idolize when he was younger.

That's some quick bits for now. Until next time, "Thank you kindly". And remember, "Constancy is a virtue!"
